Friends, co-workers and significant others are included in the group. We also have an ongoing aftercare group for all graduates to attend for continued support. The group meets weekly and seeks to provide support for continued recovery. Using a multi-disciplinary team approach, we offer an intensive program with activities designed to help each client develop new skills for coping with their life problems and to assist them in altering self-destructive patterns that support their eating disordered behaviors. Alternative modalities like: Expressive Arts; Yoga and Drama therapy , are used along with process groups on Body Image; DBT Skills Group; Interpersonal Relationships ; Living Skills groups that address Assertiveness Training; Recovery and Relapse Prevention; Stress Reduction as well as Trauma Resolution , are valuable components of the individualized treatment plan . Our food program is designed to provide a variety of food experiences. We have the practical task of shopping and preparing a meal, going out to a restaurant and even ordering a take out meal. We offer meals that are individualized for each client and we eat family style, with the staff included. This allows the opportunity to normalize the experience of eating and to help decrease anxiety. A primary goal of Casa Serena is to help each person develop healthy life-long skills for healing, and to empower each client to make positive changes in their lives as a way to let go of the Eating Disorder. |
